Overview

Boone County 180 in Color is an initiative aimed at enhancing the visual landscape of Thorntown through the creation of vibrant messaging murals. This project will feature murals on two prominent buildings: the Odd Fellows Building, located at 102 West Main Street, and the adjacent structures at 111 and 113 East Main Streets. These buildings, recently acquired and currently undergoing renovations, will serve as canvases for this art project. The Odd Fellows Building will be a focal point for this artistic endeavor. As part of the renovation efforts, the building will be adorned with a mural that reflects the spirit and character of the community, contributing to broader revitalization goals. The buildings at 111 and 113 East Main Street, which are undergoing significant renovations, will feature their own unique messaging murals. These murals are designed to complement the overall aesthetic improvements of the buildings, creating a cohesive and visually engaging streetscape. The READI funds will be used for artist fees (artwork materials are included in the artist fees) and contracted services. The budget for this project includes comprehensive artist fees, which cover all necessary aspects of the mural creation process. This includes all required materials and supplies for the murals. Approximate timeline is April 2024 to October 2025. Matching funds will be provided by the Community Foundation of Boone County but have not yet been secured.
