Redevelopment of the Blackwell Theatre in downtown Martinsville to once again become an active, vibrant community civic theatre once again. This theatre will be a venue for lectures, meetings, plays, concerts, dance recitals, and occasional movies. Located on the city's square, this theatre will add to the enhancement of the downtown area bringing life back to one of historic venues. It will also provide a place for unique entertainment for residents and visitors and provide a much-needed meeting space in the heart of the city. The READI funds will be used for the marquee, furniture, fixtures, and digital projection equipment to complete the restoration of the theater for use. Approximate timeline is 1/1/24 to 11/30/24. The City of Martinsville will be providing matching funds.
