The City of Salem, Lake Salinda project is to further develop an under-utilized asset. Added features will include the following: an art installation, an electric access for camping, a mountain bike trail of over 5 miles, a new kayak launch for all ages, shelter house picnics, a walking trail has been engineered to gain access back to the City of Salem, a remodeled pump house, and a new bathhouse.The READI funds will be used toward the construction of the bathhouse in place of an outdated current two-stall restroom building. This will include demolition of the existing structure, a new building pad, plumbing for 4 showers, 6 sinks and 6 urinal/toilets, ADA compliant walkways/urinals/toilets/showers/sinks, electric, painting, etc. It will be owned by the City of Salem.The approximate timeline for this project is September 1, 2022 through December 31, 2026. Project partners are Washington County Community Foundation and City of Salem. Intended Outcomes: Draw visitors from neighboring counties and be another option for outdoor enthusiasts to escape to a rural area. The walking path will draw visitors to the City of Salem and impact the local economy. The pumphouse sits on State Road 135, with easy accessibility and view. Outdoor activities to encourage healthy living and good mental health.
