Catalent Infrastructure Project (Project Vicious)

Overview

Sewer repair/upgrades for Catalent expansion project (see attached map). Catalent will invest $350 million in its facility in Bloomington, Indiana, to expand biologics drug substance and drug product manufacturing capabilities. Among other things, Catalent produces COVID-19 vaccines. In order to complete this expansion, the City of Bloomington must replace 1,570 feet of 18" clay sewer pipe with appropriately sized pipe from the facility to the sewer main and improve the sewer system downstream of the company one mile along an arterial corridor as it is close to maximum capacity when analyzed peak flow condition. Design work to commence immediately upon approval with the project completed by December 2026. Replacement of the transmission and distribution lines will allow Catalent to expand its Bloomington facility. This expansion will add over 1,000 new jobs to Catalent's Bloomington workforce at an average wage of $32/hour.
