Cumberland WWTP

Overview

The Town of Cumberland currently owns and operates a major municipal wastewater treatment plant located at 340 South Carroll Road, Cumberland, Indiana, Marion County. The Town of Cumberland is experiencing significant development and developer interest within its sewer territory which extends into both Marion and Hancock counties. This development will result in increased flows to the Town of Cumberland’s Water Pollution Control Facility beyond the plant’s current rated treatment capacity. READI will be used to help fund the proposed project improvements which include: Four new influent raw sewage pumps and 16-inch force main; One new 18-inch magnetic meter for influent flow monitoring; New screening building and grit removal equipment; Three new Aerobic Granular Sludge reactors and ancillary equipment including influent and effluent structures, two water level correction tanks and associated pumps, two sludge buffer tanks and associated pumps, and three aeration blowers; New disinfection building with one new non-contact UV disinfection system; One new 24-inch magnetic meter for effluent flow monitoring; One new low profile cascade aeration system to increase effluent dissolved oxygen; and, Site work including site/yard piping, electrical and mechanical work, instrumentation and process control work associated with the proposed project. Approximate timeline is 11/24 to 7/26. Matching funds will be provided by the Town of Cumberland, Spectra, Braun Development, and DR Horton.
