Overview

The Putnam County Mural Project is an all-volunteer team of arts, education, tourism, business, and nonprofit professionals who see the value of arts and community.​ Since 2019, 7 murals have been installed in multiple communities in the county by local, national, and international artists. In fall 2024, PCMP aims to add six murals throughout the county. The majority of PCMP efforts focus on mural installation, but the project also includes artist-led workshops, community gatherings, and local student visits with artists. READI funds will be used for artist stipends. Planning is underway, including identification of mural sites and preliminary conversations with wall owners. We’ve had conversations with local businesses to provide wall preparation, accommodations, and media. A call for artist applications will take place in March 24, with applications due in April 24. In May 24, local residents will serve on the artist selection committee and designs will be finalized in June 24. Final wall preparation, artist logistics, and sharing of designs to the community will take place in July-August 24. Mural installations and a culminating celebration will take place in September 24. Matching funds will be provided by PCMP, Friends of the Park Putnam County, Putnam County Convention, and Visitors Bureau and the Indy Arts Council.
