Boone County residents Kyle and Renee Schnoor intend to refurbish a 100-year-old building at the corner of Main (Indiana State Road 75) and Wall Street in downtown Advance, Indiana where they will open Rolling Dough Pizza. The dine-in and carryout restaurant will occupy the first floor and an apartment will occupy the second floor. The Schnoors purchased the building in 2020 and determined that a fast-casual pizza restaurant best fits the needs of the area. Western Boone County has very few options for dining away from home. Jawbone BBQ is in the building next door, but it is not open in the evenings or on Sundays. The closest other restaurants are at least 15 minutes away. A dine-in restaurant open in the evenings would provide an ideal place for area residents to meet, share the local news, catch up with friends and family, and relax over a good meal close to home. The building is part of a row of buildings that include Jawbone BBQ, a barber shop, a previous bank converted to office space, the Advance Town offices, and the U.S. Post Office. These buildings all survived the devastating tornado of 1995 and serve as the core of the historic Advance downtown. READI funds will specifically be used for the roof. The Town of Advance, through a grant from the Boone County Commissioners, is providing the public match. The Schnoors are providing the private match. Approximate timeline is March 2024 to August 2024.
