Downtown Terre Haute Hotel and Parking Garage

Overview

At the heart of Downtown Terre Haute, the new Downtown Terre Haute Hotel will sit along Wabash Avenue down the street from the Terre Haute Convention Center. The project includes construction of a new 114-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, with the potential for a future addition of a Residence Inn by Marriott, collectively occupying the entire city block. Infrastructure will be established to accommodate a second phase, which may include an 89-room Residence Inn or a similar extended-stay hotel, resulting in 203 total rooms added to downtown. The project also includes a new concrete podium to accommodate the hotels above, offering approximately 75 grade-level parking space and two retail opportunities that total 2700 sq ft. Parking for the Courtyard by Marriott will be provided at the Sky Garden Parking Garage, accessed via a new skywalk extending over Wabash Avenue. It will also include construction of a new skywalk extending over 7th Street, connecting the Hilton Garden Inn and facilitating guest access to the Terre Haute Convention Center without exposure to outdoor elements. READI funds will be used for engineering/design, parking garage acquisition and improvement, and connecting walkways. Engineering and design as well as property acquisition will take place from 2023 to 2024. Construction will begin February 2025 and be completed October 2026. Matching funds will be provided by the City of Terre Haute and Gibson Development.
