With the proven success of the Ventures model and RHIT’s commitment to student innovation, along with strategic partnerships with primes and tier I and II companies across the globe, RHIT created a strategic plan more focused on student interaction and hands-on innovative techniques that have a direct correlation with economic growth and retention. Currently, Ventures is located six miles away from RHIT main campus, limiting immediate access to crucial campus resources as well as interaction with students and faculty. RHIT will design and construct Ventures’ new campus at the corner of State Road 46 and State Road 42. Ventures will be the anchor of a Research and Development Park called Innovation Grove as well as future expansions on the southwest side of campus. It will also contribute to the growing economic development of the “46 Corridor.†Ventures’ new space will house all its current business units in addition to new units such as a Civil Engineering Test Lab, a Biology Lab, a Prototyping Lab, Test Engineering, and Applied Optics. In conclusion, the movement of Ventures to RHIT’s main campus is feasible as it aligns with the strategic initiatives of RHIT and support by the staff and faculty and the Board of Trustees. READI funds will be used for site prep, pavement, site utilities, landscaping, and utilities to site. Timeline is July 2023 to July 2025.
