Rockport and Roll, LLC will utilize READI funding to run water lines to the site of the new Z Place Commons development. This housing development located near the unincorporated town of Reo in Spencer County will see the construction of 8 single story units and 17 two story units. The one-story units will include 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an attached garage, and the two-story units will include 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an attached garage. All units will be connected to all city utilities and have access to fiber optic internet. Construction has begun on the units. The water system construction is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2023. The total project anticipated completion is the end of 2024. These 25 housing units will provide a much-needed housing option for Spencer County. The Spencer County Commissioners have provided $200,000 in local ARPA funds to match with $7,905,918 of private investment, and $335,000 of READI funds for a total project cost of $8,440,918. A path for stormwater will be created, so flooding will not be an issue for the subdivision or the existing businesses that surround it. Green technology will be considered and used if available.
