Jeffersonville North Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

Overview

The City of Jeffersonville seeks to expand the North Wastewater Treatment Plant to increase processing capacity to meet current and future processing needs due to planned industrial development and population growth. Currently, the North Wastewater Treatment Plant serves not only Jeffersonville residents and the River Ridge Commerce Center, but also provides wastewater treatment for approximately 1,000 homes and businesses located outside the Jeffersonville corporate limits. This expansion will serve new industrial growth at River Ridge (including the 1,000-acre Mega-site) and approximately 2,500 residents in Charlestown, the Town of Utica and areas of Clark County. The project will increase the capacity of the City of Jeffersonville wastewater treatment plant from 3.0 (MGD) to 6.0 (MGD), and the peak design flow rate from 9.0 MGD to 18.0 MGD. The READI funds will be used to pay for the construction of a new oxidation ditch with biological nutrient removal, aerators and mixers. Construction began in November 2022 and is expected to be completed by February 2025.
